Brighton Eyeing Ahanor: A Potential Summer Signing

Brighton and Hove Albion have expressed interest in acquiring the young Italian talent, Honest Ahanor, from Atalanta, according to reports from Italy. The Premier League side is looking to bolster their squad with the addition of the promising defender, who has garnered attention following his performances in the past season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Brighton representatives have been actively meeting in Milan over the past few days, where discussions about Ahanor's potential transfer have taken place. However, it is important to note that no formal negotiations have yet begun.

Atalanta's Stance on Ahanor

Atalanta is not under pressure to sell players this summer, particularly with significant funds expected from the sales of Marco Palestra to Chelsea for a reported €60 million and Ederson to Manchester United for €45 million. This financial stability could make it challenging for Brighton to negotiate a deal for Ahanor, who has a contract with Atalanta until the summer of 2028.

Ahanor joined Atalanta from Genoa last summer for €20 million, making him the second-most expensive Italian 17-year-old in history. During the 2025-26 season, Ahanor made 35 appearances across all competitions, showcasing his potential with 22 matches in Serie A and nine in the Champions League.

As Brighton looks to enhance their defensive options, Ahanor's youth and experience at the top levels of Italian football could make him a valuable addition to their squad. However, the club will need to navigate Atalanta's firm stance on their player if they wish to secure his services this summer.
