Kane Marks Record-Equalling Cap with Masterclass

Harry Kane equalled Peter Shilton's all-time England appearance record of 125 caps and delivered a sensational performance as England beat Czech Republic 3-0 at Wembley in their final UEFA Nations League Group A3 match on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the England captain was involved in every single goal on the night, producing a display that perfectly marked the milestone. His century and a quarter of caps now stands level with Shilton's record that had stood for 36 years.

Kane set up the opener with a cross from the right wing that Czech defender Vladimir Coufal comically turned into his own net. Wembley almost unanimously laughed at the former West Ham man as replays were shown on the big screen.

Five minutes before half-time, Kane got his moment. A sumptuous move involving Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers ended with the latter crossing for his captain, who had all the time and space to finish.

After the break, Kane struck the bar from distance before eventually making it three, heading Lewis Hall's delivery into the bottom corner at the far post. It was a fitting way to cap a memorable international break under Thomas Tuchel.

Scotland Suffer Home Defeat to Slovenia

Elsewhere in the Nations League, Scotland fell to a 2-1 defeat against Slovenia at Hampden Park in Group B1, leaving head coach Sebastien Pocognoli still without a home win.

The Belgian had brought Ryan Christie into the starting XI for creativity, and the decision paid off when the Bournemouth midfielder backheeled in the opener after Jack Hendry - back from suspension - headed off the post.

A win would have moved Scotland second in Group B1 with two games left to play, but the visitors had other ideas. After Andy Robertson cleared Zan Vipotnik's effort, Aljosa Matko raced through and slotted in to pull level, and the Scots looked rattled.

Danijel Sturm blazed an effort over the bar and Matko was denied a second by the offside flag before the pair combined again, with Sturm guiding the ball home to complete the comeback. Scotland tried to find a way back into the game with soft penalty pleas quickly dismissed, but they remain third in Group B1 with two games to play.

England U21s Beaten as Ireland Secure Play-Off Spot

England U21s suffered their first defeat to their Republic of Ireland counterparts, falling 3-1 in Cork, with Tommy Lonergan scoring twice for the hosts.

Lee Carsley's men had already qualified for Euro 2027 as Group D winners, but Ireland were competing for a play-off place, which they successfully secured when their deserved victory at Turner's Cross clinched second place at the expense of Slovakia on head-to-head record.

It was England's only defeat of their qualifying campaign, and they paid the price for defensive frailties despite promising early signs. They took the lead in the eighth minute when Divin Mubama's shot deflected across the face of goal and fell to Tyler Dibling, who hit the target with his first touch.

Some of the energy drained from their play, however, and in the 22nd minute a defensive lapse invited Ireland in for their opener. The ball was played out to Sydie Peck but he was caught in possession and Ireland reacted in a flash, Rory Finneran passing to Lonergan who picked his spot and delivered a cool finish. The home side then took the lead when C... [source truncated].
